It's no secret that we
love a good hike. IgoUgo member
nmagann shares our sentiment and recently took on the hills of Arizona. Alternating between hiking and checking out the local restaurants (the perfect combo, in our opinion) she appreciates the wilderness of the Southwest in
Nature-iffic Hikes. "The Prescott-Sedona area offers a reprieve from the Phoenix heat
enabling great outdoor hikes. All the hikes were easy with water to
make you forget the desert. Alive with flora and fauna and a nature
program like no other."
Along with her hiking boots and water bottles, nmagann thankfully packed her camera and took some amazing snapshots of the Southwest scenery. In places like
Lake Watson (photo above), "
The
egg-shaped boulders rising out of the clear waters offered a sweeping
landscape that yearned to be kayaked. They are permitted, but
unfortunately we didn't have any. The breeze was gentle behind these
monoliths that inevitably sheltered quiet little coves behind them."
Willow Lake Park offered similarly beautiful views along with a unexpected surprise. "
Large
granite stones creating nearly perfect reflections in the clear water.
There wasn't much of a breeze and what little there was refreshed during
the heat of the day. Making our way to a sheltered area with a shady
tree we being bumped into or perhaps it was us bumping into, lots and
lots of small blue dragonfly. Having notice upon entering the park that
Wednesday was fee-free my sister offered it that it was date night for
the dragonflies."
At the end of the journey, nmagamm offers her advice to anyone hiking, or traveling in general. "
Note to oneself, "stop to smell the roses, take your time."
