Hot, humid, historic. The Southeast drips with American pride, covered with significant battlefields and memorials from America's past. From colonial
Williamsburg and the Revolution to the dividing Civil War, we drove the roads leading us on a self-guided History 101 tour. History aside, the wonderful beach towns like
Myrtle Beach offered some needed relaxation and excursions to escape the high temperatures.
Our photos this time around show the natural wonders of America, from National Parks to high peaks. Add in some American wealth, colonial garb, and a tourist mecca, and the Southeast exceeded our expectations.
West VirginiaThe Appalachian Mountains roar through
The Mountain State (aptly named) and offer up some amazing photo opportunities. Our members took full advantage, from the rural beauty of the hills to the serenity of the Shenandoah River. West Virginia let us take a load off, kick up our feet, and enjoy some fresh air!

VirginiaThe colonial history of
Williamburg stood out as a no-brainer for the American road tripper. With a rich background of Americana,
The Old Dominion commands a respect of our roots. And with a crossroads of history and natural beauty, like the banks of the
Potomac, it's easy to fall in love with Virginia.

North CarolinaThe Tar Heel State continues the natural beauty of Appalachia; the swinging bridge on
Grandfather Mountain extends hikers a hand to see the peaks. The cities of North Carolina match the beauty of their surroundings- and with aspirations like the Vanderbilt's
Biltmore Mansion, Carolinians are living the American Dream.

South CarolinaThe entertaining
Myrtle Beach, the luxurious
Hilton Head;
The Palmetto State can entertain like no other. With nightlife hubs in the seaside towns of the Grand Strand surrounded by the history of colonial wars, South Carolina left us speechless.
Fort Sumter, the site of the first Civil War battle, humbled us while the seagulls on the sands of Myrtle Beach awed us.

GeorgiaThe epitome of southern hospitality, Georgia welcomes travelers with open arms- and a lot of things to do. A detour around
Atlanta let us check out the quaint streets of
Savannah- one of our favorite southern cities.
The Peach State offered up history as well; it took us to
Fort Pulaksi, where the first Union cannons were tested.

FloridaThe last leg of our Southeastern journey wove us through the highways of
The Sunshine State. From the orange groves to the mangroves, with a side trip to scream our lungs out on some roller coasters, Florida was a great end to this week's trip. Our members' photos ranged from the south of Florida- the iconic 'gator in the
Everglades, to the center- the iconic castle in
Disney World.
