The southern hospitality of Savannah is second to none, and there are plenty of things to do in this Georgian city. Take a stroll down River Street to catch beautiful views of the cities and a taste of the south. The historic architecture of Savannah makes for some great photography, and touring antebellum mansions such as the Owens-Thomas House are great ways to spend your vacation. Guided tours are yet another way to experience the city. From Trolley Tours to Ghost Tours, Savannah offers plenty of fun ways to revel in the history of the south.
Outdoor activities are another aspect of vacationing in Savannah. With numerous wildlife refuges in the area, the great outdoors are popular with tourists. Taking a boat cruise down the Savannah River is a favorite among IgoUgo members, and some beaches are located in the area too. History buffs can show off their knowledge at Fort Jackson and Fort Pulaski, the latter of which is where the Union Army first successfully tested a rifled canon.
With so many attractions (and we didn’t even get into the shopping or nightlife), it’s easy to see why millions of tourists visit Savannah each year. This historic southern town has plenty of things to do and the charming locals know how to make vacationers feel at home.
