Crumbs Best of IgoUgo

Restaurant | "Biggest and Best in the Cupcake World"

Quote:
A friend in NYC introduced us to Crumbs. She knew I've been a big fan of cupcake bakeries and said that I must try Crumbs so she bought a small variety box for us to try - and then we were hooked on this native NYC sweet-tooth fantasyland.Since that day we've tried a few of the Crumbs locations in the city, most frequently the UES 3rd Ave location. I must say that I have had one not so good experience at this location though, as all the others have been great. It was only as it was later in the day and both cupcakes we got seemed a bit older and dryer. Overall though, Crumbs has one of the best and unique selections of flavors I've seen. Plus their cupcakes are huge - definitel...Read More

40 Carrots at Bloomingdales Best of IgoUgo

Restaurant | "A Hidden Spot for Frozen Yogurt"

Quote:
At the top floor of Bloomingdales is the cafe Forty Carrots. Yes, there are regular menu items from sandwiches, salads, and apps...but one of the main reason people make their way up to this eatery is for the frozen yogurt! Years before frozen yogurt shops were the rage, Forty Carrots was busy dishing out their enormous cups of the frozen goodness. Even the small is enough to share with one to two friends! Peanut butter with Oreo or cocoa nib topping is one of the popular choices, but if PB isn't your thing, don't worry as there are plenty of other flavors and exotic toppings to choose from. The thick and smooth consistency does stand out among other yogurt joints and there are ...Read More

Sprinkles Cupcakes Best of IgoUgo

Restaurant | "The "Spot" to Sweeten Up"

Quote:
If you spent a long day in Central Park or shopping on 5th Ave and need a little pick-me-up, then look no further than the famous Sprinkles Cupcakes. Located on Lexington Ave not far from the southeast corner of the park, Sprinkles is easily spotted by their iconic "dots" on the outside of the door. The dots are also candy additions to the tops of each cupcake noting their flavor. There is a steady menu of the popular flavors like dark chocolate and cinnamon sugar, but all the other (many) flavors rotate throughout the week. Try fun cupcakes like peanut butter chip, chocolate coconut and chai latte, to banana, pumpkin, and even seasonal flavors like caramel apple and choco mint....Read More

Maison Laduree Best of IgoUgo

Restaurant | "A Taste of Paris in NYC"

Quote:
Wow! I must say that as much as I want to love macarons, I've yet to put them high up on my must-have list of sweets. I know, i know - it's such the "in" thing to like. And even though I've tried other well-known macaron places in town I've come away only appreciating, but not loving. All this changed when I finally fought the lines at Laudree! This place is legit and authentic with macarons straight from Paris. Since it's the newest face in the UES neighborhood, be prepared to wait...especially on weekends, when the line is out the door and down the block. If you can squeeze in a visit during the weekdays it's much better. The shop itself is beautiful with its light green and go...Read More

Macaron Cafe Best of IgoUgo

Restaurant | "MacarOns on 36th and 59th"

Quote:
There's a little (and I mean little) place in the middle of the NYC Fashion District that makes you feel like you've transported to Paris. It's called MacarOn Cafe and...yep, you guessed it - they specialize in macarons. Wonderful colorful sweet bites that melt in your mouth. We were recommended to this place by a friend of ours who lives in the city, and when we turned down West 36th Street we almost passed the little entrance way covered in a pale pink overhang. Outside was a small daily specials board announcing the featured lunch. When we walked in, although I expected it to be small, I think it caught us off-guard how actually small it really was. With about 8 of us customers in there,...Read More
