Any trip to Vancouver has to include an afternoon (or more) in Stanley Park, the city’s answer to New York’s Central Park. Take a stroll on the 5.5 mile seawall path, play some tennis or a round of pitch-and-putt golf, or visit the Vancouver Marine Science Center, the oldest and largest aquarium in Canada. The whole family will love a trip to Granville Island, one of Vancouver’s biggest tourist attractions. Stocked with retail and market offerings, Granville Island makes for a great day trip, especially when complemented with a tour of the Granville Island Brewery Co.

Vancouver boasts some of the best museums in the country, and the collection at the Vancouver Art Gallery is its crowning glory. With over 10,000 pieces in permanent collection, the Gallery is world-renown for its important collection of works by the artist Emily Carr. More native arts and handiworks are on permanent display at the Museum of Anthropology at UBC, which specializes in the study and preservation of the First Nations peoples of the Pacific Northwest.

Those more fascinated by nature’s art can’t miss Vancouver’s gorgeous botanical gardens. Pay a visit to the first full-size Chinese Scholar’s garden built outside of China, the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden, or medidate the day away among 55 acres of plants, sculptures and pavilions at the Van Dusen Botanical Garden.
