Situated on the southern tip of the Baja Peninsula, Cabo San Lucas is known for its beautiful beaches, world-class fishing, and its rollicking nightlife.
Idyllic stretches of sand like Playa Medano (Medano Beach) and Lovers Beach are always a popular option for visitors, whether they’re catching some rays or just sleeping it off on the sand. The quality of swimming here can vary greatly, with the Pacific riptide a hazardous trade-off for the quieter atmosphere at the beach.
Located where the Sea of Cortez meet the Pacific Ocean, the waters surrounding Cabo San Lucas boast the flora and fauna of both bodies of water, and some of the best fishing around. Be prepared for big game like yellowfin tuna, dorado and marlin, drawn to these waters by the rich quantities of plankton and baitfish. Catch and release is the general rule, however, so be sure to bring your camera.
No one comes to Cabo just to tan or fish, however – here, nightlife is king. Centered mostly around the city’s main stretch of Marina Boulevard, dozens of bars and clubs like The Giggling Marlin and the multi-floor Squid Roe fill up with visitors looking to cut loose, while calmer options like Two For the Road cater to an older crowd. No matter what your drink, you’ll find it many times over in Cabo.
