Nothing can replace the experience of traveling to a place for oneself, but reading SeenThat’s journal about his trip to the Altiplano region of Bolivia comes close. While our Traveler of the Week says his photos don’t do views of the mountainous area justice--and we disagree--his detailed reviews and tips certainly do. Reading them, we learned more about Bolivia than we did in seventh-grade social studies.

In a review of the El Jatatal Café, SeenThat sneaks in a geography lesson about Yungas (yoon-gas), the fruit-rich valleys of the Andean High Plateau. He also offers practical tips for the less academically minded; because breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and sandwiches are awesome, we were especially excited to see his thoughts on the best--and worst--places for sandwiches and breakfast in La Paz.

SeenThat even taught us how to walk...like a Nepali. You, too, can have the secrets to walking 8-10 hours a day with his great hiking tips. The source of those tips, his classic Trekking in the Everest Region journal, is another wealth of insights on traveling in the less-than-flat parts of the world. We look forward to learning more from him about many more places, high or low.
