Quote: Fall in Brown County Photo - Nashville General Store and Bakery, Nashville, Indiana We had been bickering about where to go for lunch. We had been shopping and had wandered away from "restaurant row" in downton Nashville. Bill didn't want to walk a long way back to any place I suggested. The guide map had a fork near where we were but all we saw was a sign saying General Store and Bakery. Finally in frustration I suggested we go in there and get something to nibble on to hold him over. What a nice surprise to find there was an actual lunch menu posted on a chalkboard. The challenge was where do you go to place an order? The store has two large rooms. The first is filled with shelves and displays of goodies for sale. In the far back corner is the dutch door divide between sales room and kitchen. Back to the front of the store we looked at the menu board....return to the dutch door order lunch...procede to a crowded corner near the entrance to pay for the meal. Than we scurried into the other large room and selected a table by the fireplace before they were all full. Not many tables, but lots of tourists. While we waited for the food to be delivered we scoped out the stuff for sale, particularly the rag rugs and quilted items. The food was tasty, I had a pulled pork with Vidalia onion BBQ sauce. I don't remember what Bill ate, but he stopped being such a crab, so the lunch must have made him happy, too. Prices were reasonable. Next time we visit, I am planning on trying some of the yummy looking baked goods, They make old fashioned cobblers, pies, and other gooey stickey things. Let the Cholesterol Consumption begain!!
