Quote: The resort was a great choice for us. This was our second trip to Cabo but our first staying at the Solmar. Despite construction at one end of the resort as they begin the process of renewing and improving the resort, after checking out the construction site...other than being in awe of how fast and Quietly they build, there was no intrusion or disruption as a result. Our view of the ocean and experience from the pools and resort bars was not affected at all. The resort was spotless both in interiors and exteriors and the landscaping was beautiful. The staff was so friendly that even as you met workers on their way to different parts of the resort, they greeted guests with a smile and a response. Our needs appeared to be anticipated... Quote: For our first time in Cabo Solmar was a wonderful resort for the money! We saw whales everyday from our balcony! The pools were clean the staff especially Cira Raymundo and Jose were extremely professional and helpful! We found the food to be very good - and room service was not that expensive. The sunsets were indescribable. The downside was the sales pitch to buy into their new condos. The construction began at 6:30 every morning and continued until 9 oclock at night. It did wake us up every morning including Sunday. We ate at the Tanga Tanga #40NE side of Tesoro on the marina#41 and had tacoes for 1. We also recommend the Crazy Lobster and the scallop tacos! Try the Mango Dacquiris at the Somar. Happy hour is from 3 - 6... Read More
Quote: We had two rooms a studio and a one bedroom suite. We had three balconies and an ocean view from all. The staff was friendly and rooms were very clean. Bathrooms were large and nice. Everytime any of us took a shower we ran out of hot water, not just go cold but off all together. Both rooms. Said it was the construction going on but it happened at all times. The food was good and the drinks were fine, not anywhere near as good as the Pacifica Resort but then no place was. Had a few problems with our bill but that tends to happen anywhere you sign for stuff. Recomend always check you bill a day or two before you check out. All was taken care of or explained no problem. Cabs were ez to get and a short walk to the marina or town. Always felt... Read More
Quote: 1. Check in and out at the front desk was very good. The staff were friendly and helpful. The first appearance of the hotel was very clean and well maintained. This hotel is currently being remodeled a section at a time, but I thought it looked great. 2. The room was very clean. It appeared to have just been updated. Everything in the room and bathroom worked well. Beds comfortable, nice view of the ocean. 3. Swimming pool and beach. This is one of the nicest beaches in Cabo. Swimming pool was well maintained and very clean. 4. We did not eat at the resturant, but we did frequent the pool bar. The service at the bar was very poor, in contrast to everywhere else at the hotel. We were not the only people to complain. We... Read More
Quote: We were pleasently surprised when we arrived at the Solmar. Our room was very large (kitchen area, stove, refig & microwave) & very clean, had a wonderful balcony with a beaufiful view of the ocean. We sat on the balcony every morning with our coffee & watched the whales & stingrays, it was wonderful. There is an older part of the hotel, the rooms are a bit smaller & a little older but are right on the sandy beach. This is not a party hotel, but you can walk to town for that. We truly enjoyed the Solmar.
Quote: We got a junior suite great room along the beach, the ones right along the water. The resort has been around a while and you can see the age in some places but the rooms were more than comfortable. No construction noise. We are young and don't require opulence; if you require the best and are a needy person you might look else where. We were on a budget and this was great for us. We did not do all inclusive as we wanted to eat in the city and try new things so can't comment on the one restaurant. The two pools were great, nice swim up tikki bars. Didn't have to wake up early to get a spot. Nice large jacuzzi that was hot at all times. Amazing beach access. Unfortunately since it's on the pacific side the beach is not safe to swim... Read More
Quote: Got here and the staff were very gracious and friendly. We were offered a room next door (same hotel owners). We went there for 3 nights and back here for final night. Both hotels were well cared for and had great service the whole time we were there. The chef at hotel next door made a dinner for us with my catch of Wahoo that day. Excellent meal. I wasn't disappointed at all with anything there. It could use a little more lighting on the sidewalks at night.
Quote: We stayed at the Solmar for our honeymoon. The room we stayed in was not the most up to date. The room could use a paint job. The bath room could use some attention but, it is the best bang for the buck. The location is perfect! \n\nEvery day we saw whales swimming by our room. We enjoyed our very short walk to the marina. We loved the $2 a person ride to down town. We were not hassled to attend a time share presentation at our hotel. The staff remembered our names by the end of our first day. The most memorable thing about our stay was the sound of waves breaking. While in our room we had the door to the lanai open the entire time. The sound was soothing. \n\nThe rooms are not the greatest but, the location is!\n
Quote: If you are looking for a non-commercial, true Mexico experience, this is your place. I have stayed at Mar De Cortez (budget) to Playa Grande (expensive) and I find this spot to be perfect. My husband and I have stayed in October for the birthday bash, August for vacation, and New Year's... everytime we have the same fabulous experience. Right on the ocean... you can't swim, but there are 3 pools. We enjoy happy hour daily from 3-5 and the poolside food is delicious. About a 10 minute walk to town around the marina. If you need the Ritz this isn't your place, but great for layed back folks who enjoy cocktails and relaxing.
Quote: When taking the virtual tour on-line, the Ocean Front Deluxe Suite really isn't what it appears. Very dishonest. We booked and paid for a ocean front room, when we arrived they put us in a room facing a cliff, all the way in the back by the water treatment site. No view what so ever, couldn't see the ocean at all. After pushing hard for 2 days, we were moved into an ocean front room which is less expensive, and small, they refused credit us back for the difference. Hotel is very clean, safe. Restaurant service is bad 45 min to get water.. Time share breakfast was good, but they don't tell you that's what it is, very deceptive. Drinks are expensive and watered down. Won't ever go back. They are owned by Playa del Grande next door. Beautiful... Read More
