Quote: This was the best meal I've ever had. The service was excellent. Make sure to try the sea scallop, barbeque shrimp, and bread pudding. The waitress was fast and extremely helpful in choosing dishes as I was on vacation. I did have to wait a little for a table, but it was worth it. It was recommended to me from a local.

Quote: Mr. B's is back having been completely redone after Katrina and the food is better than ever. The service is excellent as it was before Katrina. The wait staff are very helpful with wine selections, which having been mostly destroyed are now being built up again and eventually the cellar will be as good as ever. I had the 5 course tale of the cocktail dinner and each course out-did the previous one. I went back a few days later and had a truly wonderful veal chop. This is a don't-miss establishment

Quote: I did not have a bad meal in New Orleans, and this restaurant was no exception. We had a large party, but we were seated easily because we made reservations. Our waiter was very good and attentive. I had the filet mignon, and it was tendered and cooked to perfection. Dessert is a must! The bread pudding was voted to be the best dessert ordered. Make sure you try their barbequed shrimp too.

Quote: A very popular restaurant famous for its Creole cuisine. Once you're seated, the service is excellent and the food worth waiting for. Telephone reservations are not accepted, so when you check in, you may have to wait up to an hour for a table, but at least you can leave your name and either sit at the bar or even visit the local shops that stay open very late.

Quote: I went to Mr. B's after a friend invited me to dinner. For the money, I thought it was just OK and that it could have been better. Mr. B's is part of the Brennan empire. The family has numerous (and famous) restaurants throught the city. My friend RAVED about their jambalaya pasta. To me, it was just plain oily and not that spicy. Others at our table liked their food. If you want true cajun food, you'll want to try elsewhere. The atmosphere wasn't bad but it reminded me of a fern bar. If you're looking for cajun or funky atmosphere -- this is not the place. There seemed to be a number of business dinners while we were there. Again, perhaps Mr. B (or I) were having an off night. But then, my friend raved about Cafe... Read More

Quote: The whole dining experience was wonderful. In a town full of food, this restaurant definitely stands out. The wait was rather lengthy, but it was well worth it. Conveniently, there are several pubs in the immediate area where you can go to wait until they are ready to seat you in Mr. B's. Run by the famous Brennan Family, the restaurant is quite a mixture of food styles. It is advertised as "Creole Cuisine", but is so much more. The atmosphere was very lively and fun. When we were there a live pianist was on the premises. Jazz tunes filled the air and mixed with the wonderul aromas of fine cuisine.

Quote: I had heard about Mr. B's Bistro from several people, but was afraid it would be a bit touristy (over-hyped). But I was very pleasantly surprised. First, the service was exceptional. I got great recommendations, an extra scoop of ice cream for dessert (more about this later), and a good sense of humor from my waiter. Second, the food was exceptional. I had the gumbo to start (it was quite good) and followed it up with the pasta jambalaya. Everything I had was very well done and satisfying. It is nice to be really excited about trying the 'local' cuisine and not being disappointed. Also, the dessert was great (and I am a big dessert fan). I had the bread pudding with whipped cream and ice cream on top. It was definitely not for... Read More

Quote: Mr. B's is less formal and less touristy than many of the fine restaurants in the Quarter. The location on Royal St. makes it a perfect choice for a first night in New Orleans. Royal is one of the most beautiful streets in the country--lined with historic buildings and world-class antique shops--the grown up and refined sister to nearby rowdy Bourbon St.. Give yourself time for a stroll before dinner. The food is superb contemporary Creole with an emphasis on seafood. Mr. B's most famous dish is the BBQ Shrimp, which comes in the shell in an exquisite peppery sauce. This is some of the best shrimp you'll ever taste, but you'll work for it--the shelling gets rather messy and you'll be wearing a bib. I've also had the Hickory Grilled... Read More

Quote: Another Brennan family restaurant, Mr. B's is a more traditional place than Palace Café (see my other dining entry), while still having a casual, laid back atmosphere. We ate here on our first night in town and it was the perfect, delicious introduction to New Orleans Cajun and Creole cuisine.
