Whether you're people-watching on its plaza or just smoking a Cuban cigar on its myriad beaches, you'll have no trouble finding ways to fill your days in Cuba.

Cuba is fast becoming a popular international destination for beach vacations, and with its hundreds of high-quality choices, it's not hard to see why. Close to Havana you'll find great sandy stretches like Santa Maria Beach and Playa del Este, the resort town of Varadero (90 miles southeast of Havana) is riddled with beaches. Cayo Coco is well-known for spas like Acuavida Spa Talaso along with its beaches, while Playa Guardalavaca and Playa Esmerelda make the eastern city of Holquin yet another popular spot. And if you're looking for some history with your lounging, check out Playa Ancon – possibly the best beach in the country – in colonial Trinidad.

Take a walk in Havana along the Malecon Boardwalk and check out Old Havana, packed with centuries of Cuban history. Here you'll find sites like the grand Museo de le Revolution, a (propaganda-laden) museum documenting the Cuban revolution of the 1950s, housed in the opulent Old Presidential Palace. And if you're not too tired from sightseeing and dodging the city's myriad motor scooters, down a cup of strong Cubana Café and visit the Tropicana. One of Havana's most popular nightspots, this club/bar/theater mounts Cirque du Soleil-style shows nightly for your entertainment.
