A recent visit to the Skyscraper Museum and their current exhibition “Supertall!” brought Superman to mind -- wasn’t he able to leap tall buildings in a single bound?” Flying is one thing, but stepping up to the top of the Burj Dubai in a single bound – well, that seems impossible. It'll be even more impossible at Jeddah’s future Kingdom Tower, which is supposed to soar one kilometer into the heavens. Can such a behemoth of a building be created with an aesthetic in mind?

Burj Khalifa, Dubai
Catsholiday viewed the tallest building in the world (for now) and was impressed with its unique features. “The Burj Khalifa is designed to be totally self-sufficient with electricity. It generates electricity using a 61-meter turbine which rotates in the wind… The amazing spiraling shape of the building is not only for its looks but also helps to reduce the wind forces on the tower. It is stunningly beautiful in both night and day.”
CN Tower, Toronto
Before the Burj Khalifa, Toronto’s CN Tower held the title as the tallest structure in the world -- and in the Western Hemisphere, it still makes the Top Five. Tvordj said it's a must-see in Toronto. “Even though the CN Tower is no longer the tallest structure in the world, it's still got the highest public observation level and even on an overcast and gloomy day, like the day we were there, the views were still pretty spectacular.”
Petronas Towers, Kuala Lumpur
Once the tallest buildings in the world, (1998-2004) the Petronas Twin Towers are a landmark in Kuala Lumpur.
Muchmor visited and wrote that “The Petronas Towers are pretty magnificent. I have seen my fair share of tall buildings, but this building or rather these buildings are truly spectacular. By day they are two gleaming metal and glass structures reaching up into the sky, but by night they come alive."
The Willis Tower (formerly the Sears Tower), Chicago
Skydeck Chicago at the Willis Tower bills itself as the world’s third tallest building and the tallest in the western hemisphere. According to Globetrekr, “there are almost no words to describe the sight from the 103rd floor! This is a must-see stop in Chicago and a great place to get the lay of the land and an overview of the excellent architecture.”
