Back when Polaroids ruled the day, you could barely go to a party without appearing in someone else’s scrapbook. The amateur photographer became the king of the perfect square, also known as the Polaroid frame, while people like Ansel Adams took care of the panorama. Now, with the advent of digital cameras, our very own photographers take large-scale shots of their own. Our Photos of the Week are lessons in taking it all in.
When you’re standing on the deck of a cruise ship, what do you do? Our instinct is to bust out the shuffleboard, but Eric from Aiea had a much nobler idea: he took a panorama centered on the ship’s long railing. Thanks to the added width, he also gave us glimpses of a clock tower, the ocean, and the bay.
It’s cloudy enough in Dublin that sunshine is a cause for celebration. As her name suggests, Fotorunn thought the best way to do this was to snap a wide picture of the river Liffey. We imagine Dali would appreciate the gorgeous reflections.

Loved the shot of Aloha Tower. Brings back memories when Elvis arrived and left by the Matson Lines ships in 1957. Glad to see it's still there.
