Despite what tourism officials in the Bahamas may have told you, sunlight isn’t always necessary to have a great time and see a gorgeous view. Travelers to the northern U.S. -- or Ireland, or Canada, or Hokkaido -- all know how cathartic a pea-soupy fog can be. Two of our photographers recently saw opportunities poking their heads through the cloud cover. Our Photos of the Week are giving us misty eyes.
Thanks to Lord of the Rings, most people know that New Zealand has a wide variety of climates. In Te Anau, MagdaDH snapped a gorgeous shot of the countryside grading into winter, which reminds us of the vistas in her native Scotland. Kudos to Magda for capturing the river’s reflection.
Christmastime views are old hat, we know. But bird’s-eye-views of three-story-tall Christmas trees? Those are something else, as Debbietje demonstrated in her snap from atop a ferris wheel. Joyeaux Noel, indeed.
