Quote: I take the kids to Blackpool for the weekend quite regularly and although we usually stay in b&b’s we have also stayed at The Big Blue Hotel. The reason we stayed here was because I got a really good deal on a family room on the internet. I paid £80 per night for the room which I thought was really good value especially considering that the hotel was four stars.

The hotel is the best located hotel in all of Blackpool when it comes to visiting the Pleasure Beach as it is literally right next to the Pleasure Beach and so it is convenient for all the attractions along the sea front. It also has direct access to the Pleasure Beach for the first 90 minutes of opening meaning that if you buy a pass from the hotel reception you can access the Pleasure Beach without having to queue.
We arrived at the hotel by car and there was free onsite car parking which was a nice bonus.

We had booked a Superior Family room and I was really pleased with the room that we were allocated on arrival. The room had a nice big double bed for me as well as a kids play area which contained bunk beds for my two children. They were really hapy with the bunk beds and the kids area of the room was really funky and had a TV and connections for a playstation which can be hired from reception. The room also had free wifi which meant that I could check my emails after a long day of doing activities with the children.
The bathroom had a bath, shower and free toiletries and was maintained to a good standard with no mildew or dirty fixtures.

Breakfast was included in the room rate and there was a really good selection of food on offer. It was a buffet breakfast and there was both hot and cold items to choose from as well as plenty of cereals, drinks and pastries. I was really impressed with the breakfast and would definitely recommend trying to get a deal that had breakfast included in the price.

Although I didn’t get to use it the hotel also has a gym and there are loads of spa treatments that could be booked. Hopefully next time that I visit I will get the chance to try some of them out.
The reception is also open 24 hours a day and I found all the staff to be really helpful and courteous at all times. They couldn’t have been friendlier and they seemed more than happy to answer any questions that I might have had.

I would definitely stay at The Big Blue Hotel again. It might lack some of the personality of a bed and breakfast but everything was so clean and comfortable that this more than made up for it. I also liked that the hotel really seemed to be catered towards families instead of large groups of people in Blackpool for stag and hen nights. The hotel had a really relaxed family friendly atmosphere about it which is missing in a lot of hotels.
