Quote: We were greeted by friendly bellhops. My seven-year-old daughter ran to the balcony and screamed in excitement. Things to know: $* parking fee. Our room was spacious. There are no microwaves in the rooms and no refrigerators. I kept bags ice in the cold box to keep the milk, juice, and yogurt that we purchased cold. For breakfast we had yogurt in the room and I gave my daughter cereal. One morning my daughter wanted to eat at the hotel for breakfast. The child's buffet was $*. I went for the adult continental buffet. $*. The full buffet was about $*. If you want to eat breakfast at the hotel make sure to book a room with the breakfast included which was not an option listed on Travelocity. We ate most of our lunches at the outdoor... Read More

Great Location....Exhaustive Travel Time!

Quote: Just got back from 1 week, 2010, and now we need a vacation to recover from our vacation! We got this great steal of a deal on a combo package for air and hotel stay at the Fairmont so off we went. But the 14 + hours total travel time out and back just was too much for us. It left us exhausted! We usually do not care about the little things once we check-in but the little things plus our exhaustion just made us irritable for the entire week. The major little thing was the food. I especially found it expensive and disappointing, especially the breakfasts. Next was our room location. I had hoped for at least an ocean view but you get what you get when you bundle your room rate with your air rate and there were no upgrades from partial ocean... Read More

Perfect choice

Quote: The Fairmont is excellent. Service is well balanced, there for whatever you need, helpful and friendly, but not overbearing. We stayed 7 nights with our 2 kids. The rooms are very roomy, plenty of space for all 4 of us. Large bathroom and patio are nice touches. The housekeeping was amazing, we snorkeled most mornings and the room was always cleaned when we returned mid-morning. The pool and beach are great for families. The beach offers a nice calm place to swim and snorkel for kids. We have stayed at the Marriott in Waikoloa and the Fairmont is just so much more inviting. The property feels more spacious with flowers, gardens, waterfalls, koi ponds and courtyards all around the property. At night Manta Rays swim right up in... Read More

Quote: We went to the Big Island over the Memorial Weekend. The hotel was beautiful and the pictures on the Website don't really do it justice. The service was great!! Everyone was sooooo friendly and helpful. The food was expensive like everywhere in Hawaii, but it was very good. The hotel has a main restaurant..... food was excellent and a beautiful atmosphere on the outside patio. We really had nothing bad to say other than we were so sad to leave!! Coming back soon!!

April get-a-way

Quote: April is not the best month for Hawaii - a bit windy and cooler than expected. Luckily the Fairmont Orchid Hotel has so many charming places to sit around or eat or walk. I very much enjoyed the hotel and would recommend people looking for a bit more of a boutique feel. The food choices were a bit limited but at least there was one thing on each menu that fit my requirement. Hotel room was excellent - spacious and clean. I wish I could have stayed longer than several days. My only critcism was the continental breakfast (my general choice) wasn't really very european and should have been better for the expensive price.

A little bit of Paradise

Quote: The Fiarmont has a beautiful, protected beach that is ideal for young children and snorkelers. The grounds are beautiful and allow guests to spread out. The Gold floor, with its complimentary beverages, breakfast and hor dourves, and internet service is worth it for family convenience. The concierges were extremely helpful with arranging activities and dining. xyz is terrific.

Quote: One of the most beautiful spots on earth! The hotel, although a little older, was wonderful. The grounds were gorgeous, the beach was heavenly and the staff and service were top notch.

Outstanding experience. All-around best of Hawaii! Look no further!!!

Quote: Apologies for the delayed review! We had such an exceptional stay for our honeymoon (April 2009). There is no possible way to describe the outstanding service, food, staff, and beauty of this property. From the moment we walked in the door the staff at the Fairmont Orchid exceeded all of our expectations. We arrived earlier than planned so I called the reception desk from our car on the way from the airport to see if we could check in early. Not only were we allowed to check-in hours early but we were greeted graciously (as we were each and every day we left the property) and the front-end manager upgraded us to a fantastic suite. The food is exceptional (breakfast, snacks, lunch, and dinner). On one occasion, the... Read More

5 star property, 3 star room

Quote: We loved the facilities- pool, beach, spa, views, restaurants,activities- and the staff here was outstanding in all phases. Our ocean view room was more like a motel room, but I don't expect a lot from hotels on the beach anymore. Marble bath unimpressive, but it was nice to have 2 sinks and an in-room refrigerator that we could stock from the nearby grocery. Good access via shuttle to nearby stores, restaurants, and black sand beach, as well as historical sites. Close drive to most activities- Hapuna surf beach, scuba diving, ATV tour, Zip line tour, and whale-watching. Helicopter tour location was 5 minute drive away. Food was good at the resort, but expensive ( $* per person breakfast buffet, dinner at Brown's was about $* per... Read More

Great Hotel

Quote: This was my first stay at a Fairmont hotel and it was great. The hotel room was nice ;we were lucky to be upgraded to ocean view;, maybe with the exception of the TV ;tube and not flat screen, which nowadays I consider standard for such a hotel. The pool was nice and the private beach was great as well. The hotel is classy, exclusive and secluded, which makes you feel even more special. Dinner at their Brown's restaurant was very good ;at the expected price;, with a great view on the ocean and very romantic great for a honeymooners;. If you want to feel pampered and luxurious, this is the place to go. Look for good deals, though ;had a 3 nights, pay 2 deal including breakfast, at half the price I expected and was willing to pay, probably... Read More
