Very Nice Hotel

This is one of the first hotels I have stayed in that the pictures of the rooms on the internet actually looked like my room. Everything was neat and clean. Bold colors on the bed and great artwork on the walls gave an elegant feeling to the hotel. Artwork was different in the different rooms.
Your view is either the ocean or the lagoon. The lagoon side allows you to watch traffic and people walking which can be fun.
There is a large flat screen TV which has a large number of English channels, which I know from previous stays in Mexico that is not standard.
Excellent shower!! The bathroom has a nice set-up and is very large.
The hotel has several nice stores. If you just want some touristy souvenirs like keychains, shotglasses or vanilla, pick your hotel versus the flea market - as they were pretty much the same price after bartering at the market.
There is internet access that is quite reasonable in price. There is also quite a variety of restaurants. The Gran Melia is not an all-inclusive, although many conferences will have the Quetzal and Perla restaurants set up buffet style for the conference atendees at no charge. We just had to show our nametags to get in.
There are two pools and the area is set up nicely with a good view of the ocean. The beach itself is very small (due to a hurricane??). This is a nice place to lay on a lounger and soak in the sun. However, there are rocky areas in the ocean and swimming was not allowed the days we were there (in April) due to strong currents and the rocks.
The location of the hotel is good as it is easy to take a bus or taxi to shopping.

The hotel was gorgeous. The room was great it included a flat screen tv, mini bar, and a telephone in the bathroom. It had a great ocean view. The food in the restaurants was very good and was fairly priced. The hotel staff was very polite and helpful throughout my stay. The beach was nice but was rocky. The pool included a swim up bar.There is a McD's, Papa Johns, and 7/11 across the street. I would definitely stay here again.
Gran Melia Cancun Mexico

The absolute best from the time we got there until the time we left. I have been to Cancun many times and from now on, I wil only stay at the Gran Melia. Service, food, beach, pool, lounge,shops everything I wanted and MUCH MORE. NOT FOR KIDS (Not a young party resort). Had the best five days with my sisters. Saw a wedding there that was BEAUTIFUL as well. Staff was the bomb. Drinks adn food were never ending. I have never seen a breakfast spread as they did. Must take hours upon hours to get ready! Lobby and lounges were top notch as well. casual dress will do anytime day or night. I could go on adn on and on! Highly recommend this to anyone.

This is one of the nicest hotels in the hotel zone in Cancun, it has a beautiful lobby. The beach isn't that great right now but I think that is how most of Cancun is. The service is wonderful and the food at the hotel is very good and reasonably priced for a resort.

Cannot say enough about the staff. Very friendly. We were there during spring break and saw very few breakers. Food was excellent as the choices were abdunant. Would definately stay there again.
