I stayed at the fantastic hotel as I had arrived on a flight from Canada and had only nine hours before I needed to check in for my next flight. No time to go home as trying to do so would have meant, at the very least, a short time for sleeping and a great deal of stress.

So I pre-booked at the Grand Hyatt at DFW. Absolutely crucial as this is a very busy hotel. Don't count on making a last minute reservation or just showing up. This hotel is attached to DFW Airport Terminal D. I arrived at another terminal and had to claim by baggage, seek out, and take the Terminal Link bus and arrive at this hotel about 30 minutes later. If you arrive at Terminal D, it is a quick and easy walk to the elevator that takes you to the hotel's lobby. (Departing is easy as well).

I booked an executive room at a stunningly high rate of $289 plus tax. I won't kid you as that is what this hotel often costs. You pay for convenience, luxury, service, and a very quiet place to sleep only a short distance from active runways. That soundproofing costs money.

Once you arrive at this hotel, you can turn off your stress button. All will be easy and pleasant from that time on. The bellman took my luggage and whisked it away to my room. It took 5 minutes to check in, but I could have checked in automatically at an ATM-like machine. Web site of this hotel: http://granddfw.hyatt.com/hyatt/hotels/index.jsp.

Everything is perfect. The restaurant, the Grand Met, is superb. My bed was huge, called the Grand, the bathroom is the sort of room you would find in a million dollar mansion and the facilities are top grade.

The beds, pillows, linens, etc. are so fine you can arrange to buy similar and have them delivered to your home. The black out drapes really do so. The room is very quiet.

The best part of this hotel, however, is the kind and considerate staff. They know that you are worn out and perhaps jet lagged. They take care of you without being intrusive.

When it is time to depart, you can arrange for a bellman to take your luggage and see it all the way to the check-in desk if you are flying American Airlines out of Terminal D. If you are flying AA out of another terminal, allow at least two hours before your flight. If you are flying on a different airline, you may have to take Terminal Link bus to another terminal at DFW and check in as usual.

Once you have checked in and have gone through TSA security, you have a short walk to your departure gate or at worst a ride on Skylink.

Yes, I would stay at this hotel again if I have a very early departure or as in this case, a change of planes with a long layover.
