Brooklyn Zoo @ Prospect Park

A June 2000 trip to New York by Pualani

Quote: The Brooklyn Zoo is the perfect location for an afternoon day trip. It is also a great location for your next Tarzan-theme party. This pint size wonder is packed with big zoo thrills.
Quote: The BKNY Zoo, located on Flatbush Avenue in Prospect Park is a great alternative to the large zoo or amusement park. Admission is .50 for adults and .50 for kids.

The Zoo is extremely kid-friendly and designed to create an engaging, educational experience. The trail walks are intimate, the recreated habitats are enclosed, air-conditioned and a good choice rain or shine. The BKNY zoo is home to the rare and exotic Red Panda bears. In addition to the pandas you can enjoy 2 daily sea lion feeding shows at 1 and 4PM, all day barnyard fun, where you can pet, feed and tour the digs of pigs, chickens, and goats. Finish off the day with a carousel or paddle boat ride or lakeside sunset.

Be sure to check out the annual Boo-in-the-Zoo event, where kids participate in Halloween arts & crafts, trick-or-treating, costume contest and face painting (at no extra cost). This is a must-see, must-do event and is guaranteed to be fun, refreshing and a photo album filler.

Quick Tips:

Bring snacks, the Zoo offers only vending machine treats or should I say provisions.

Best Way To Get Around:

By Bus: B41 to Zoo entrance By Subway: D or Q train to Prospect Park stop, walk north one block By car: Flatbush Avenue between Empire Blvd. and Grand Army Plaza. Ample street parking.
Quote: The Prospect Park Wildlife Center a.k.a. Brooklyn Zoo is cute, clean, fun and uncrowded. What more could you ask for in New York City?
