Ladies' Week in Cancun

The accommodations were spacious villas with a small kitchen area, an enclosed bedroom, and a dining room/living room. The bathroom doors were adjacent to the bedroom and living room. The beds and couches were very hard -- ask for an extra mattress for a great night's sleep!

The bus trip stopped at a small village where you could buy candies/souvenirs/local art at a good price. We also stopped for a traditional Mayan lunch buffet-style. The food was excellent and included fish, beef, chicken, and vegetarian dishes. You must try the rice pudding!

The guided tour portion of the ruins was when you could explore the game court and the largest Mayan temple. You are then given approximately 45 minutes to explore on your own, including climbing the pyramid. Get ready to overcome your fear of heights! It is almost a vertical climb and is best tackled by climbing in a zigzag path up and down. There are also observatory ruins, royal palace ruins, and a museum where you can find great souvenirs and books.

Quote: This is absolutely the best place to party in Cancun! Our first night there was Halloween. There were acrobatic acts a la Cirque de Soleil. There was also an acrobatic Freddy vs. Jason act, complete with scary music, claws, and a chainsaw! There was a fantastic lip sync performance to Michael Jackson's “Thriller” with costumes, makeup, and dancers. It looked just like the video. These acts were in between the music, balloons falling, bubbles blowing, and confetti throwing – it was a good time! There were more lip syncing performances, including Bon Jovi and Frank Sinatra. The drinks were very strong. WARNING: beware of men with test tube drinks – you will lose your sight temporarily and forget the rest of the night!

Quote: Take mini two person speed boats thru the lagoon - at high speeds if you are far enough behind the main group. Take corners so sharp your friend beside you can touch the water with the side of his head. (FUN!)

The lagoon is filled with giant crocodiles at night - can sit at restaurants at night at watch them snap and eat a whole chicken in a single gulp!!

Snorkelling off a sandy area in the middle of the ocean??? somewhere past the lagoon. Not much fish...a few sting rays though.

All together a good time. For those with a need for speed - just lag behind and zig zag like crazy!

Quote: This is not actually a tour, but rather a stop on the way to Chichen Itza. It's an ancient well once used by the Mayans, now used as a diving hole. There are steps that lead down into the cavern of the well. You are only able to walk around the perimeter of the pond at the bottom. Inside it is magnificient. Beautiful. See pictures.
