Read More The Picasso Museum is the most visited of Barcelona’s museums, housed in 5 medieval palaces in La Ribera. Its collection includes more than 3500 of the artist’s works, including many from his early years. Nearby is the Museu de la Xocolata, or the Museum of Chocolate. It features sculptures made of chocolate, displays on the history of cacao products, a small theater, and of course, chocolate to buy and eat. For a more traditional--but contemporary--museum experience, visit MACBA, or Museu d'Art Contemporani de Barcelona.

Barcelona’s Maritime Museum, or Museu Maríti, is an IgoUgo favorite. It’s housed in shipyards dating back to the 13th century and is located that the southern end of La Rambla at Drassanes, or the old docks. For any visitors with an interest in fútbol, the FC Barcelona Museum in Camp Nou; given the popularity of the Barça, as FC Barcelona is known, it’s not suppressing that this is the second most visited museum in Catalonia. If you want an experience that few tourists ever see, though, head to the Museum of Shoes, or Museu del Calçat. Hidden in a tiny square off a narrow alley, beside the Gothic Cathedral, it’s quirky, all in Spanish, and worth finding. Close
