Top Tourist Attractions in Phoenix

With beautiful attractions like the ... Read More With beautiful attractions like the Desert Botanical Gardens, and stunning features like Camelback Mountain, Phoenix is packed with activities to please any tourist.

One of the best ways to take in Phoenix and the surrounding area is on one of its many guided tours. Spend a day exploring the desert or gawking at the Grand Canyon with Open Road Tours, or schedule your own custom tour with Phoenix’s Detours. If you’re looking to go off-road, look no further than AZ Hummer Tours, where you’ll brave canyons, mountains and rivers from the back of a Hum-Vee. Canyon Creek Ranch Tours specialize in guided horseback expeditions, but if you’re really looking for something different, why not get a bird’s eye view on the whole southwest with Hot Air Expeditions.

Phoenix’s desert landscape is home to some stunning plant life, and nowhere is this more apparent than in the Desert Botanical Gardens, where massive saguaro cacti spread their arms among the 21,000 other plants on the 50 acre grounds. Animal lovers will enjoy the nearby Phoenix Zoo, like the Gardens a designated Phoenix Point of Pride.

The Mystery Castle, yet another Phoenix Point of Pride, is a hand-built architectural oddball in the foothills of South Mountain Park. Built in 1930 by Boyce Gulley for his daughter, this sprawling desert “castle” is made of stone, adobe, car parts and basically whatever Gulley could salvage, and is supposedly held together by a mixture of cement, mortar, calcium and goat’s milk. The castle boasts three stories housing 18 rooms, including a chapel, cantina and a dungeon. Close
