This one-time stopover for pirates and privateers has become a popular pint-sized paradise, surrounded by gleaming blue water. Children and adults alike love the island’s Dolphin Encounter, where for the price of admission you can swim – and take your picture – with the tame trained dolphins.

Those seeking a more active off-the-island activity need look no further than one of Nassau’s many “adventure” offerings. These trips, offered by companies like Power Boat Adventures and Island World Adventures take guests past cays and islets, snorkeling over coral reefs, and feeding wild stingrays, sharks and iguanas.
