November has many claims to fame. All-Saint’s Day, Guy Fawkes Night in the UK, and American Thanksgiving may all come to mind, but a relatively new celebration has been spreading worldwide during this month. Movember (or Novembeard) was started by a group of men in Melbourne in 1999, and this month-long, no-shaving event raises awareness for men’s health problems globally. The idea behind the event is a month long facial hair growing brouhaha, with events and support days organized throughout November. The organization has spread across all parts of the globe to join both men (Mo Bros) and women (Mo Sistas) together for the awareness of men’s health problems such as prostate and testicular cancer.
While the Movember movement might be relatively new, people have been fascinated with moustaches for all of history. Take a look at some of the most famous moustached misters that have been immortalized in bronze, marble, or a variety of other mediums as photographed by our members.
