In a tale as old as time, France has captured the hearts of three lovely ladies of IgoUgo. They fell for fairy-tale timbered houses in the East, châteaux with checkered histories in the Loire Valley, and quaint harbor towns in the West. Luckily, it’s a tell-all tale, and they’re sharing their travel stories in journals.
The three new France (and two new Switzerland!) journals from phileasfogg are nothing short of fabulous. She dedicates one journal to Eating and Sleeping in Strasbourg, another to attractions in Srasbourg: The Heart of Alsace, and the third to sharing Great Reasons to Visit Colmar. Reason #1? “Charles the Fat held a diet in Colmar in 884 AD. That, punny as it is, was reason enough for us to visit!” We have our own reason: the gorgeous photo above.
Kez, meanwhile, charted a route of the Chateaus of the Lovely Loire Valley and says that “the Loire has some of the best of France rolled into one very perfect package.” In this case, perfect is whimsical turrets, graceful arches, white lilies, and a mirror image of a châteaux reflected in the river—and that’s just at the first castle.
Trip to France West Coast by Fiver29 is the story of her stay at a cottage in Nieulle-sur-Seudre, with reviews divided into three categories: Where to Stay, General Attractions, and Animal Lovers. We’d say one of those is a rather unusual travel basic, but Fiver29’s reviews of the area’s animals are much appreciated—and she calls the aquarium "far and away the best" one she's ever visited. It seems that even the poissons are prettier in France.
