She was in Asheville, NC, for some holiday fun, but as you might infer from her member name, vampirefan wasn’t going to let this trip be all sugar and spice. After checking out the Biltmore Estate’s holiday scenes, she went on to darker haunts.

The woman who says “When in a haunted city, I will certainly find a ghost tour to take” clearly has high standards for one, but vampirefan has nothing but nice things to say about her nighttime Ghosts and Haunts Tour. It was certainly good preparation for a subsequent stop, Riverside Cemetery, where the traveler and her husband paid respects to local writers Thomas Wolfe and O. Henry. The couple even managed to find some intriguingly dark spots on a seemingly innocuous Gray Line Trolley Tour, including the house where Zelda Fitzgerald died in a fire and the mental hospital where James Taylor was a patient.

The journal also highlights a slew of lighthearted activities: driving the “eye-popping” Blue Ridge Highway, strolling streets of art galleries, shopping the Grove Arcade, and exploring the nation’s largest collection of Art Deco buildings outside of Miami Beach. It seems that some vampirefans are only bloodthirsty for a fabulous weekend away with the husband.
