Staying every week for a month in Virginia Beach for work could get a little dull- especially if you're staying in a corporate hotel as opposed to a beach resort. The Wingate Inn was no exception to this travel rule.
The amenities at the Wingate are best suited for business travellers. They have wireless and Ethernet connections in every room so if you bring your laptop you can do your work. They also have a very nice (though very stark) business center next to the front desk area with two computers so that travellers can get their email and print things out.
The Wingate serves a pretty nice continental breakfast every morning between 6am and 10am. My personal favorite was the "make-your-own" waffle station where patrons can dump premeasured cups of batter into a waffle iron. The rest of the spread was pretty standard- think typical bagels and muffins. Good for business travelers that like to grab a bite to eat before a day of work.
Other amenities at the Wingate include an indoor pool and exercise room. These were nothing spectacular, but good to have none-the-less. Rooms at the Wingate are standard as well- fairly clean with one or two beds, TV with HBO and bathroom and vanity set somewhere in the room.
My only complaint about this hotel was the lack of quality service. The attendees at the front desk were never pleasant and even when they are doing ordinary tasks like checking people in they seem to be put off. Our maid also did not do a good job cleaning our room a few of the days of our stay- moving around my work and stealing things from our room.
For vacationing tourists, I highly recommend finding a different hotel. For business travelers, this isn't the best place to stay, but the reasonable rates and good amenities will keep me coming back.
