Big disappointment!

We stayed 2 nights at this hotel. When we arrived, there was a dirty washcloth hanging over the shower and a half-used bottle of shampoo from the last guests. The carpet in our room felt damp the entire time that we stayed there. The fixtures in the bathroom were all coming loose. The staff was not friendly or helpful at all. The pool was filthy and the chlorine and ph levels had not been checked for 3 - 4 days. The entire hotel was dirty. It definitely cost too much for the quality that we received. The continental breakfast was pretty good except for the fact that we saw the person taking care of the breakfast go right from emptying dirty trash cans to carrying clean plates and mugs without washing her hands first. So, we will not be likely to stay at a Wingate ever again after this experience.

Ice Box

The lobby of the Wingate by Wyndam was a welcome ice box on a day in Norfolk when the heat index was greater than 100. The room was clean and the A/C on max when I got there. The TV worked fine, everything was clean. Just super. Only thing is the cleaning crew missed emptying the trash the first morning and missed cleaning and replenishing the in-room coffee the second. After that, no complaints on anything. The by-now requisite DIY breakfast was great - two waffle machines, plenty of inviting fruit and pastrys. Even variations - one morning there was eggs and sausage, the next biscuits and gravy, and waffles always. I stayed there because so many of the seemingly great hotels in Norfolk got such bad reviews. I made a correct decision. The WIngate is a great hotel for business or pleasure.

This was a good hotel with a great continental breakfast. The room was clean and we had no problems the one night we were there.

This is a very nice hotel, and the price was inexpensive for all the amenities they offered."

Wingate Inn

Staying every week for a month in Virginia Beach for work could get a little dull- especially if you're staying in a corporate hotel as opposed to a beach resort. The Wingate Inn was no exception to this travel rule.

The amenities at the Wingate are best suited for business travellers. They have wireless and Ethernet connections in every room so if you bring your laptop you can do your work. They also have a very nice (though very stark) business center next to the front desk area with two computers so that travellers can get their email and print things out.

The Wingate serves a pretty nice continental breakfast every morning between 6am and 10am. My personal favorite was the "make-your-own" waffle station where patrons can dump premeasured cups of batter into a waffle iron. The rest of the spread was pretty standard- think typical bagels and muffins. Good for business travelers that like to grab a bite to eat before a day of work.

Other amenities at the Wingate include an indoor pool and exercise room. These were nothing spectacular, but good to have none-the-less. Rooms at the Wingate are standard as well- fairly clean with one or two beds, TV with HBO and bathroom and vanity set somewhere in the room.

My only complaint about this hotel was the lack of quality service. The attendees at the front desk were never pleasant and even when they are doing ordinary tasks like checking people in they seem to be put off. Our maid also did not do a good job cleaning our room a few of the days of our stay- moving around my work and stealing things from our room.

For vacationing tourists, I highly recommend finding a different hotel. For business travelers, this isn't the best place to stay, but the reasonable rates and good amenities will keep me coming back.
