Quote: My hubby and I stayed here after spending a week in another hotel (nicer) on the island (but they were overbooked so we had to spend our last 2 nights here. The property is adjacent to a very large mall. The mall is nice (if you are into shopping) but this property is NOT convenient to the beach, it is a walk and if you drive parking is a SERIOUS problem. So I don't recommend this property if you are a "beach baby". The rooms were VERY small (Kona) fortunately, we did not spend much room at the hotel so the small size was not an issue for us. There is a very popular nightclub in the main lobby so the lobby is very busy at night and parking is extremely busy. One night of our stay we heard security... Read More

Quote: I would not stay at this hotel again because the customer service was so bad. The room was too small and the bathroom you need to close the door to get into the bathtub becuase the door already block the half way of bathtub and no balcony at Kona Tower. The first night I didn't have a good sleep because the pilllow was so small and flat. The next day I woke up I had very bad neck pain. The second day I called the cleaning service for change my pillow. I waited an hr to get my pillow. It wasn't a reasonable price for this small room. Only one good thing is they are at good location. Swimming pool is small too.

Ala Moana Hotel, Honolulu

Quote: I stayed at the Ala Moana two years ago because of its location near the convention center. (The huge shopping mall next door is great, too.) The Ala Moana was a wonderful retreat from the convention, so I chose it for my recent trip. My friend and I had a room with a view of both the convention center and the ocean. We watched ships and parasailing from our balcony each morning as we drank our coffee. The hotel staff was most gracious and helpful; no one was too busy to answer questions, and each seemed especially efficient. Parking was reasonable and convenient, and the breakfast buffet in the restaurant just off the hotel lobby was superb. I certainly would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to or through Honolulu.

Disappointed

Quote: I was disappointed with the front and activities desk. On several occassions I called both desks and after 15 rings I decided no one would answer the phone. Although the toilet was clogged and short a bath towel the housekeeping was more attentive to our needs. The end of our two day stay I spoke with the front desk representative about my concerns and they seemed indifferent to my comments. I will not stay there again.

Quote: Worst hotel I have ever stayed at. I would avoid at all cost. Staff is very unfriendly and spoiled my trip to Hawaii.

The hotel for the most part was adequate.

Quote: I thought this hotel was adequate. The housekeeping services were less than optimal. For example, there were atleast two days were our room was not cleaned until 5:pm enthought we were gone most of the day. The sheet on the sofa bed were never changed.(My son slept there) The hotel receptionist when we arrived made me feel like I was bothering her when I came to check in. The concierge service, however was excellent. They were very well-versed and helpful with directions to places on the island. The people who work the shops in the lobby were very nice also. I did love the location of the hotel. The Ala Moana beach Park was great and just a hop-skip-and-a-jump form the hotel. Could walk to most places including Wal-mart!!!!

Ala Moana - Kona Tower

Quote: I have stayed at the Ala Moana several times over the years. My family and I were always in the other taller tower and found it to be nice if a bit cramped (4 people in 2 rooms) when relaxing in the evening. The Kona Tower only had one queen bed ( the other tower had two singles in each room) and a sofa for evening chats, so there was room to walk about even if 4 people were in the room. . The view was not of the beach but this was not important to my family. The rooms were very clean. Our room had a coffee maker, a microwave, and a small refrigerator. I have always recommended the Ala Moana, but after this trip it's definately at the top of mt list.

Quote: My wife and I stayed for 7 nights and 8 days on our honeymoon and one year anniversary all bundled as one. The room and the view were awesome. The rooms are a tad small but thats normal for Hawaii. The service was great and so were the amenities. It was close enough to walk to Waikiki but far enough that you were out of the hustle and bustle. The price was right and we would most definitely stay again.

Quote: The Ala Moana Hotel was very clean and one of the best prices for a 4 star hotel I found in my research. The staff was helpful and friendly. This was our first trip to Hawaii and if given the chance we would definately stay at the Ala Moana again.
