Bad food, bad service- stay elsewhere when in Memphis

The food was terrible everytime I ate in the hotel. The halls and elevators were not air conditioned and very hot. Only luke warm water in shower at all times. The concierge lounge did not open on time and a group of waiting customers used a house phone to ask someone to come open the lounge.l I did call mgmt and was told they were not in and they'd leave a message about my concerns. I never heard from mgmt. There are other nice hotels in Memphis. I'd pick them and I would not stay here again. This hotel needs updating and is very tired.

No attention to necessary details

I asked for a room with wi-fi, and consequently got one without. A minor problem, since they had cabled lan in the room. More annoying was that they charged 12 dollars for 24 h net starting noon. That meant that for me to utilize internet from the morning, I had to pay 12 dollar for the hours before noon, and then 12 dollars for the hours after noon. If our stay is long it really doesn't matter, but it is annoying. Why not charge from 05AM to 05AM and avoid irritating your guests? The breakfast was very good, but they wouldn't let me bring the coffee mug to my room. That is a bit cheap. The towels in the bathroom was dirty. One had make-up smeared in it. One had black ink fingerprints on it. There is really no excuse for that. Since the hotel is located a fair bit away from both Peabody place and Beale street, I had to take cab or tramway to get to the real downtown. No doorman or valet ever helped me hauling a cab, so I had to walk outside the hotel lot and across a highway to get the cab myself ( this happened twice a day for five days - hardly a glitch). This absense of hotel staff at the main entrance also put me in a rather unpleasant situation.

Dissapointed

At checkin,I was told that parking was included in my charges. The beds were not made when we walked in the room, they were made about thirty minutes later. No excuse given. Then later that evening the remote for the tv was not working, and we ended up being charged for a movie that I had seen on regular tv. Got that fixed. When I checked out I got billed for the parking. Complained to the staff, and have received two different reasons, but no compensation. They will nickle and dime you. Totally unsatisfactory.

My stay was an overall 4 - the staff was very friendly, courteous and just great. There was a slight ant problem in my particular room. They moved me into another room and gave me a complimentary breakfast for my trouble. I still found a baby spider or two, but beyond that, the overall hotel, staff, location and service was great. Close to downtown Beale St. and trolley is right outside of hotel - only costs $1 to ride. Parking is expensive - $12 per day as is internet service per day. They do kind of nickel and dime you on those things but I was satisfied overall.

Close to Beale St.& other attractions, Trolley picks up at the door, beds so comfortable you don't want to get out. Fast friendly check-in. Couldn't be the price for the quality.
