No Restaurants close to hotel

I would have preferred a hotel within walking distance of downtown restaurants and shops, but it was very quiet which is a plus. Make sure you eat before heading back to your room, no restuarants close by.

A long way from downtown...

The Hyatt McCormick is nice, but it is a long way from, well, almost anything. We ended up eating at the hotel restaurant most meals; the food was very good, but the inflated prices took a toll on our pocketbook. There is no nearby grocery store to grab snacks and sodas for the kids. I went with my husband, who was there on business and our 2 teenage kids. The kids and I had to taxi it or bus it everywhere, which is expensive, and we didn't really feel safe waiting for a bus in this somewhat deserted area--and that was daytime.

Our rooms were nice both years. This year we got a free upgrade to a corner suite an upper floor, which gave us a spectacular view of the city and the lake.

My husband's work will bring him back there next year, but I think the kids and I will stay home!

The view makes it worth it

I recently traveled to Chicago and was pleasantly surprised by the view from our room. The price of the room was reasonable so we figured we would be greeted by the sight of a brick wall but we all agreed the view was excellent. Everything in the hotel is overpriced but if anything, it makes you want to peel your face off the window and go into the city. A cab from Navy Pier is $14, including tip. I recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Chicago, except families or light sleepers (the walls are a thin).

Was Very Nice

I think this hotel is best for those without families and for those who fly in and not drive. Parking was outrageous!! $24.95 every time you leave and come back or $29.95 a day for Valet Service, but then you have no access to your car. Plus there is no whirlpool and the pool is a 4 ft. deep lap pool. Not family friendly. But the hotel is very nice and the view is incredible.

got what I expected

Picked this hotel for a location on southern edge of loop. All was what I expected except was charged twice for parking because we used our car to go out for dinner. The hotel does not permit in and out privileges in parking deck.
