Just got back. The address is totally wrong! They are in the middle of construction so they should have mentioned that their lobby entrance was on Rue de 29 Juillet, on the other side of the block. Room - Size was decent but not well maintained. Wallpaper was peeling/curling. Lots of stains on the carpet, wonder if it was mold. Beds were lumpy and uncomfortable - could not get a good night's sleep! The thermostat wasn't working so it was always hot!!! Had to open the window all the time but didn't want to be looked at by the building across the way. I was in the room next to the hallway closet so I was always waking up to the maids getting their gear out, which sounded like they were coming into my room. Fire drill went off at 6:00 AM for 10 minutes, which seemed like forever. No real appologies until I asked what had happend. Bathroom - Again, a decent size. Tub was deep but narrow. Linens were clean. I think the linen service was the best part of this hotel. Staff - Polite but no follow through!!!!! I called and stopped by 3X's to ask them to fix my pay tv. Each time no follow through!!!! When I called back after an hour of waiting at one point, they appologized but then didn't ask if they could schedule it to be fixed while I was out or any other such option. I thought that was pretty awful service. As I passed by in the lobby, they weren't generally friendly. They only greeted you when you stopped them. The baggage handler saw me and said goodbye but didn't even offer to help me with my bag - very large suit case down the stairs. Again, very dissappointing.

Excellent location, great price, very friendly front desk. I will definitely choose this hotel again.

Hotel St. James & Albany is located directly across from the Louvre Museum, in district 1. The district thing will make sense once you get a map of Paris.

The hotel is very nice. We stayed in a Jr. Suite (room 229) overlooking a courtyard. Our room had two sets of huge, 15-foot windows. The room is configured in a loft style with the spacious living area downstairs and the ample sleeping area upstairs.

The bathrooms are ultramodern in design, replete with marble flooring and walling in certain areas. The rooms were very clean. However, the maid services could do a better job of cleaning the rooms. That did not make our stay less enjoyable.

The walls are not very sound proof, but it really does not pose an issue. We slept soundly each night.

Our booking included daily breakfast in the Pyramid room. The breakfast was very good—quite simple but very good (all you can eat eggs (scrambled/hardboiled), bacon and sausage, breads, many different types of croissants, fruits, cereals, some chocolate stuff I saw a lot of in Paris). Altogether pretty darn good.

We visited the spa and workout facilities, which were nice. The indoor pool is heated, the steam room and shower areas were impeccably clean.

The hotel treated us to a bottle of very, very, very delicious champagne on our first night, along with fresh flowers. My wife loved that part.

Another thing my wife liked was the location in terms of being close to major shopping streets.

We would stay there again.

For young lovers such us ourselves there was nothing better than spending the New Years in Paris, and at the St. James & Albany Hotel on the majestic Rue de Rivoli, just a stone throw away from the Louvre. The Honeymoon Suite we got was fantastic - a duplex with a nice view of the pretty courtyard. What was nice about the hotel was that though we only booked the Honeymoon Suite for two nights, we were allowed to stay there for the duration of our trip (additional 4 nights) at no extra charge. Very Sexy!

Located directly across from the Tuileries Gardens, this hotel is a stone's throw from the Louvre and the Metro. While on a main street, our spacious room was at the rear overlooking a courtyard and we did not hear any street noise. The staff were extremely accommodating to our requests and questions. Our only complaint is that the pillow provided was much too thin.
