If you are going to stay at this hotel, stay in the suites. It is in another tower which is quieter. The breakfast buffet is wonderful and worth it. The unfortunate part was we booked through a online travel website, so when we arrived at the hotel. They made us wait for almost an hour because they couldnt find our reservation. Nothing was offered for the delay while we sat with tired kids. Then 2 days later, my son went to turn on the upright lamp and it shorted with sparks flying everywhere, eventually catching on fire. The smoke detector went off and we had to open our door for over an hour to clear the smell ad smoke. We called the front desk and someone came right away to remove it. But no apologies, and again nothing offered for compensation for all the events that happened to our family..We had a very bad experience, especially when your kids tell you that they do not want to stay at this hotel again.
Extremely Poor Room and Service

Very Very poor stay. My family of 3 was booked for 3 nights. We left after the first night including a room change due to noise. Our room was in the back "motel" type area, looking into the parking lot. Our package was supposed to have included West Edmonton Mall passes, but the desk staff had no idea about such a package (even though I had the confirmation and package details). They offered to sell me passes instead. Both beds were worn down and you could feel the springs. The walls were so thin we listened to our neighbour's tv until 2am, including adult movies. Housekeeping came into our room at 8:00am and woke us up. Parking was a problem, as the front entrance was under construction and we could not pull up to drop off our luggage. There was no room in the parking lot, as the Mayfield hosts dinner theatre and the lot was full. We had to park on a side street and walk up a busy street with no sidewalks. I asked to speak to the manager, whom did not come to talk to me. The front desk person, gave me an offer to stay, it was not satisfactory.
OK but with faults

The room was clean but a bit small - by the time the two queen beds, the desk and the chair were shoehorned into the space you could barely move.
The Internet access RJ45 didn't work, but there was low strength WiFi on a network that was for the hotel's use, that the front desk said to go ahead and use, and it worked.
We started out to look at the pool, but after miles of corridors and transiting a spooky darkened convention center, we looked at the stairway to the health club door and thought - no way would we ever do this hike in our swim suits.
The really weak part was the botaniCa restaurant on premises. The first night there were three tables with people, and we lucked out by ordering soup and salad and beating the third group there. They were still waiting for food after we finished ours, which was slow to arrive. The first morning there was a light crowd for breakfast. As long as you ate the overpriced buffet the service was OK. The omelette station even had someone to cook an omelette the third time I checked. The worst was the meltdown morning after a Jonas Brothers concert the second morning. Apparently the hotel never heard of the checking the guest count the night before. We got there in time to get a seat. The dining room was 3/4 full, 1/4 was closed. The line stretched into the lobby. The tables in the 3/4 of the room that was open were not bussed and the line grew. It was not pretty.
They were very appologetic at check-out and refunded the breakfasts.
We chose the hotel because it was close to the supermall, which is impressive.

Could hear through the walls all night, customer service skills were non existant. Walls and carpeting were dirty. Beds were extreamly uncomfortable.

We Have a trade show there every year, I thought the hotel itself was okay, we became a sponsor of the trade show this year and still couldn't get a room for the show even after we pre-booked when we left last year but now they are saying that didn't happen and I have no way to prove it, I should have gotten a confirmation form. They were almost ignorant to rude on the phone almost like you were bothering them. we left a civilized message for the manager to call us to resolve these issues, no one ever called us back...Suprise suprise! All of this so we could book a room through a on line travel website, thank god they were there, when the hotel said they had no rooms we went online. Now we have to go through this again this year, we would go somewhere else but the trade show is in the building and it's (-30) - (-40) during that show so we really dont want to drive, under normal circumstances I would never let a Hotel force me to spend my money there but for now that is where the show is. Ther is way better out there, find it!
