Rah, Rah, Rah!

We hate to toot our own horn, but guess who’s leading the pack in LuggageOnline’s 50 Travel Sites You’ve Probably Never Heard Of? IgoUgo, of course (though we like to think we’re at the top of everyone’s list).

IgoUgo shares the spotlight with established biggies like BudgetTravelOnline.com, but we also found some wonderfully inventive up-and-comers. Airline Meals.net pays homage to the endangered airline-food species, most notably with mouth-watering Meal of the Week photos. And speaking of airlines, the ultimate budget traveler apparently thinks hostels are for wussies: at Sleeping in Airports.net, get the scoop on which airports rank highest for overnight stays. Charles de Gaulle was rated “Hell” for comfort and deemed a “2006 Poppy Airport Winner”…you mean Paris’ massive, sprawling international airport isn’t a gem? No way!

On a less sarcastic note, Vegtravel.com offers tours and packages for reformed carnivores, because in small-town Mexico, condiments, a la salsa and guacamole, are virtually all the vegetarian dishes you’ll find. Farecast.com displays the cheapest dates for air travel: enter your departure and arrival cites, and voila—a month-long graph displays price peaks and dips. Predicting the future has never been so easy.
