Eight girls in Las Vegas = Sin City

A January 2004 trip to Las Vegas by Ballerwawa82G

Seven of my female friends and I went to Las Vegas to have tons of fun. We mostly went to clubs, ate good food, and saw the sights during the day if we weren't too tired from the night before.

I think Las Vegas is all about the shows. I wish we went to more, but they can be pretty expensive from -100 if you want a good show.

The water shows in front of the Bellagio were fantastic, so make sure you stop by. In some of the hotels and in front of Paris Hotel, there are mimes and people posing as statues, which was fun to watch.

Quick Tips:

Always try to get free passes from taxi drivers. I think they are paid to distribute them. Just talk about places you plan on going to and they usually offer whatever they have. We ended up only paying for one out of eight clubs because of them and the fact that we were eight girls (wink!).

Plus there are coupons books everywhere. From the lobby to convenience stores and even buses, pick them early in your trip so you can plan.

Best Way To Get Around:

We walked around during the day, which wasn’t bad, but at night, we used taxis. It wasn't too bad, but with eight girls, it takes a lot. By this time, though, they should have a new monorail up that is supposed to be able to transport you throughout the whole strip. Here's a link for more information.

Flamingo Las Vegas

Hotel | "Flamingo"

The Flamingo is a vision of pink. With pink windows and walls, it was really into the flamingo theme. For my first time being in a hotel without my parents it was a pretty good experience. We chose the Flamingo because of it being in the main part of the strip so we wouldn't have far to travel. It was a great hotel for the price we paid. The one problem we had was with out room accommodations when we got there, but since we made reservations with orbitz.com, it could have been their fault.

The main floor had a couple shops for clothing and a shop to buy any minor accessories like toothpaste and such. There also a "box office" to purchase tickets to shows throughout all of Las Vegas. The main floors had the casino with card games and slots. Their casino wasn't as impressive as the other hotels but if want some late night gambling you need not go far. They have great places to eat that I saw, like a great buffet style brunch area and several good restaurants.

The rooms were nice -- we had a nice view of the garden on the main floor. The cleaning service was really nice too. They gave us extra towels when we asked for it with no complaints. Watch out for the water bottles in the room! We thought they were complimentary, but they were actually $5 a piece.

The garden outside was gorgeous with penguins, flamingos, and huge koi fish. You could eat outside and enjoy the scenery or look at thought the huge windows they had. There were great places to take pictures outside as you walked through the garden. It even has a chapel in the back of the garden for weddings.

As this was my first time eating at a fine restaurant, the experience was fantastic. The main dining floor spins around ever so slightly through out the night giving you a beautiful 360-degree view of all of Las Vegas from uptown to downtown.

Out table had a main waiter and two other servers who were with us throughout the night. The waiter was very friendly and even a bit entertaining.

The food was brought out in a timely manner. Not even once were we wondering where are food was at. The presentation and taste of the entire meal was exquisite. I can't wait to go back again!

Pink Ginger

Restaurant

This is a great place to eat if you are staying at the Flamingo but don't feel like going far. It had a nice Asian ambience to it with low lights, Asian pottery, and beautiful redwood furniture. This all gives it an intimate appeal despite the location.

The greeter was very nice and seated us right away. It wasn't packed at all, which makes it a good place to go if you want good food and quick. The table initially had a very pretty tablecloth on it, but it was quickly swept away when the food arrived. You can get sushi and other Asian foods here and they provide chopsticks if you like. All the food was nicely prepared in beautiful bowls to eat with. I had clams that were covered in a soy-like-sauce, which was a little salty to me, but that’s how soy sauce usually is. Overall, they were very nice and prompt with the service.

Chippendales (The Show)

Attraction | "Chippandales - The Show"

What can I say? Gorgeous men with beautiful bodies dancing around in next to nothing! It was tons of fun. However, the drinks were expensive but poorly made. The waitress was kinda rude and took forever to bring drinks. Plus they don't have that much of a drink knowledge so don't order anything fancier than a Long Island.

The guys were very friendly and talked to us while we were waiting in line. You can't take pictures with them though which sucks and no cameras inside. The show room was comprised of several huge tvs that showed a little preview of the guys to come. When they came out they did various choreographed dances, little skit scenes and since one of the guys could sing, there was a singing number.

The men did all and anything you could or could not imagine doing on stage with their bodies. Some lucky women got called up on stage and I believe they might have been flashed the "goods"! One of the lucky women was from a bachelorette party/group that was behind us. All the women were yelling, screaming and some were a little drunk.

Overall we has a blast. At first I was a little skeptical about going, thinking that it was just a strip show but it was a bit classier then I expected.

Coyote Ugly

Attraction

To start off with it wasn't as exciting as the movie made it seem. I know it’s mostly a bar, but I expected more dancing than what there was. It went pretty much like this: 30ish men standing around with drinks in their hand watching tipsy/drunk women on the bar dancing.

The bartenders were enthusiastic and friendly. They tried to get everyone into the whole atmosphere of the place. For some of the time, the bartenders would dance on a back wall with a spotlight on them, which created a silhouette that people could see from the outside of the club. One of the women that was on the microphone recruited other women to dance on the bar table for free shots. She was pretty persistent about getting my friends and me up there. She literally grabbed my arm and dragged me onstage. I only went along with it because I didn't want to cause a scene, but it was pretty rude.

The music was more bar-like than club-like so it was pretty hard to want to dance. Imagine dancing to a Metallica song -- really ridiculous. I didn't really have too much fun until I got a bit of a buzz from the free shots. It basically was a lukewarm experience.

Rain Nightclub

Attraction | "Rain"

This is absolutely the best club we went to while in Las Vegas, and we went to a lot of them. The place looked hot with all the lights, different colors, and they even had flames shooting out above. It has several areas to dance to with the main floor being in the center. There are also tables you can get but I imagine they're pretty expensive.

Fortunately, we didn't have to pay a cover to get in, because somehow we met some MTV people and we got in free, all eight of us! If you do have to wait to get in, get there early cause you'll be waiting at least an hour to get in.

The place was packed of course being the most popular place to go but it was still fun. They had great music for people of all tastes to dance to. The age group looked to be about from early twenties to mid thirties.

Rum Jungle

Attraction

The atmosphere of the place was pretty nice, with bright lights and cool colors. Coming into the place there is a wall of water, like a waterfall, emptying in to a little pool (not for swimming). Around the bar area is the infamous wall of different rums from around the wall where they serve their special rum drinks. It was a bit expensive so I didn't bother trying one. There were dancers inside huge balls hanging from the ceiling. They were dressed in skimpy white clothing that glowed under the UV lights. During shift change, they would come down by sliding down several ropes and then hoisted their replacement back up, which always got a cheer from the crowd.

The music composed off top 40, Latin house music and techno. It isn't bad music, but the combination sounded so I couldn't get into it. They mixed new music with old music background and added all kinds of beats to it. The beats came from guys beating huge techno sounding conga drums. They beat them in all kinds of odd positions while dancing a bit and were pretty fun to watch.

You mostly end up standing unless you’re lucky enough to get a seat at the bar, which was crowded most of the night. There were some seats on the side but they fill up quickly. Somehow one of my friends talked a bouncer into letting her sit in the reserved table area so she could rest her feet. She ended up making friends with a large group of guys that were at a couple tables. So we all got to enjoy the reserved seats and got some free drinks too. I'm not sure how much the tables were, but I heard one of the guys say they paid $500 for one bottle of Grey Goose vodka!

It's a cool place to check out if you like the music, but I had more fun watching the acrobatics.
